Resolved Question: Why is my laptop doing this? HELPP PLEASE, Best answer!?

Ok so basically, I got a free laptop from my mums boyfriend, and i was wondering why this has happened It was windows xp, But i put windows ultimute on it, and it dosent have no sound at all now.. Its as if windows 7 had cleaed it off My speaker icon at the bottom has a cross on it and when i click it it opens a box, and says searching for audio, Plus, if i hover over the speaker icon it says "No audio output device installed" I Really need to know what to do with this.
